Experience in four-wheel driving is necessary before individuals can go on their self-drive-safari in the wet season.

The Individual Safari enthusiast on a budget?

As more individuals are looking at their budgets, but also dreading the infamous Chipata - Mfuwe road, the need for quality cars on the doorstep of the National Park is much needed.
Easy access to this remote area of Zambia is guaranteed by direct flights from Pro-Flight and The Personal Touch will arrange all your transfers to and from the Mfuwe International Airport. Within a short time you change your scenery from shopping in Lusaka to game driving in Mfuwe.

Should you be travelling in a big group and wanting to conduct your own low cost safari, The Personal Touch can assist. Our rental cars seat up to nine persons enabling you to enjoy the drives with your complete party, ensuring nobody misses out on good sightings. A bonus for self drives is that there are no time restrictions and you can enter the park for the entire day:

• From 1st of April to 30th of November between 06.00 and 18.30 hours*

• From 1st of December to 31st of March between 06.00 and 19.00 hours*

*Departing visitors must ensure they leave the National Park before gates close and ensure the above times are accurate when entering the park. For more information, please visit the ZAWA website. Entrance is paid per calendar day at time of entrance.

Personal Touch Transfer Services

Public transport to and from the Luangwa Valley, or even within this amazing valley is not easily arranged.
By offering specific community tours and transfers, The Personal Touch hopes to increase the number of visitors in a sustainable way, so more people can enjoy the cultural aspects of this part of Zambia, and increased benefits from tourism accrue to the local community.

Besides transfers to and from Mfuwe International Airport to various camps, Personal Touch assists safari operators in the valley, by offering excursions to Kawaza Village or any of the unique Community Projects found in this area. A pure cultural experience.
But it is not only the lodge client that can benefit from our services. Independent travellers can for instance fly in to Mfuwe, be collected from the airport by The Personal Touch, spend one or more nights at any Community Project and then fly out again. Backpackers are catered for with cheap / budget prices for their itinerary. If you want to be transferred to one of the lodges or camps in the area to additionally enjoy the area’s wildlife, we can also arrange this for you.

Pricing, terms and conditions for the Individual Safari enthusiast

Our prices for rental vehicles include transfers to and from Mfuwe International Airport and have no mileage restrictions! Optional guide or driver services must be arranged upfront and subjected to availability. Fees are on request.

Pricing on airport transfers, transport to Kawaza or any of the other community projects are per car, fuel and driver included for one way within the greater Mfuwe area. A maximum of 6 persons including luggage can fit the vehicle.
