Quality Car Hire, Rental and Transfer services in South Luangwa Zambia

Safari businesses, like Personal Touch in South Luangwa, have long believed that by developing and improving schools, local people will have the chance of a lasting and sustainable income. So, in 2009, they came together and formed a charity called Project Luangwa. Since then Personal Touch has become a proud supporter although not operating the "standard" tourist lodge within the valley.
We gladly offer a "project discount" to any volunteers or people interested in
working together with Project Luangwa. Details and information can be found on
their website or with project managers Dave and Karen.
Although not being a top-end market tourist lodge or pretending to be a high
turn-over company, Personal Touch feels "every dollar counts and any assistance
is appreciated".
With our own on-going education to our teams for our African Spas and more students being trained both in Zambia as Malawi, The Personal Touch reaches more local communities for education and employment. However we feel, more can always be done...

What Does Project Luangwa Do?
As a charitable organization their aim is to create an effective,
coordinated approach to helping local communities improve their long term
economic prospects, whilst avoiding a negative impact on the environment and
wildlife.
At Project Luangwa we assess each school in the area to evaluate what is needed
to improve its standards. Then, with the support of Safari Businesses and their
guests’ generous donations, we are able to:
build new classrooms
renovate existing buildings
build new teachers’ accommodation
provide desks and chairs for the children
donate teaching aids and text books
provide additional teachers
sink bore holes for clean drinking water
provide toilet facilities
A few facts about education in Zambia
Only 57% of Zambian children attend school.
Only 2% of Zambian GDP is available for spending on education.
There are an estimated 1.2 million orphans in Zambia - that’s 23% of Zambia’s
children.

Orphans and vulnerable children:
23% of children in the Mfuwe area are orphans, and many more are
classed as vulnerable. Orphans are usually taken in by relatives but often they
cannot afford both to care for them and provide school fees, uniforms and books.
Project Luangwa also helps these orphans and vulnerable children to attend
school through a pupil sponsorship scheme. Our longer term goals include the
building of a vocational skills training centre and providing support to new
small businesses through training and micro loans.
